Why this Democratic Party Has Concealed its 2024 Election Autopsy: An Analysis.

This move from the DNC to withhold the release regarding its own post-election analysis concerning the 2024 election is remarkable but entirely predictable. Resistant to hard truths, the party's leadership apparatus operates more like a publicity machine rather than a political organization committed to cultivating local power to secure victories.

An Environment of Conformity

Hesitant to depart from the prevailing attitude demanding unity, the DNC has remained within that legacy throughout this past year. Releasing an official autopsy might have shown whether party leaders truly desire to encourage open debate about the errors that paved the way for the former president to become president again. Yet, the leadership is moving forward under the pretense that there's nothing to understand following the stunning loss from the last cycle.

Our guiding principle: will this lead to victory? If not, it is an unnecessary diversion from what truly matters," a rationale that has been offered for withholding the report.

Critical Problems an Autopsy Could Have Addressed

A genuine analysis worth its salt would tackle head-on certain uncomfortable matters. Among them are:

  • Electoral Disengagement: Losing among a significant portion of the electorate that backed the party's candidate during the previous election became a critical factor in the close 2024 election.
  • A Decision to Run: The determined choice by a party leader to run again, coupled with an extremely delayed withdrawal, is viewed as robbing Democratic voters the chance for a genuine choice.
  • Abandoning the Working-Class Base: While facing economic anxiety, the electoral effort is criticized for accommodating elite contributors while failing to confront the role of corporate greed.
  • The Foreign Policy Impact: An unwillingness to adjust a stance regarding a ongoing war allegedly caused losing many voters, particularly with young people, Arab-Americans, Muslim voters.
  • Eroding Youth Allegiance: Extensive evidence indicates a major decrease of support for the party among the youth electorate.

A Pattern of Evasion

Choosing secrecy aligns with a recurring tendency of sidestepping difficult realities. It recalls a dynamic where nearly all elected Democrat in Congress acquiesced to a sitting president's decision for seeking another term right up until a poor public debate performance compelled a change.

Concurrently, a significant majority of the electorate were consistently telling pollsters that they did not want that candidate to seek re-election.

Financial Questions

A substantive analysis might also investigate matters about where money went, such as what sums went to high-priced advisors and media firms over the course of an electoral effort which expended an enormous amount in a short period.

A Broader Problem

At its core, the blockage surrounding this report highlights a deference to party leaders who engineered an unsuccessful national race. The signal to rank-and-file members – which includes millions of loyal volunteers – appears to be that they do not have a right to see the lessons the leadership claim to have learned from hundreds of interviews drawing from feedback from all states.

A party incapable to critically review where it went wrong finds it difficult to escape the cycle that proved so beneficial to their opponents.
